Question:

I installed a new version of Netscape, now every time I start it, it says it is unable to locate host. What's wrong?

Answer:

Sounds like you have installed the Netscape for Windows 95, and you are still using the Windows 3.1 Dialer. The problem you are having is that the Netscape for Windows 95 is a 32 bit software and the dialer is 16 bit. You have two choices.

  1. You can install a new Netscape Windows 3.1 version.
  2. Install the Windows 95 Dialup networking. To Setup Windows 95 dialer please refer to Windows 95 manual and the Doc's on my home page. You will find the doc's on my home page under Setting up Windows 95 dialer.

Question:

I keep getting disconnected, why?

Answer:

There are a few reasons for getting disconnected, however this is not a problem with our service.

  1. Noisy phone lines (Call Uswest and tell them you here noise over the line). They will call you back and say the line if fine. Tell them: it is still noisy and they will send someone out to you house to actual test the line. They can not fully test the line from the Central Station. They must come to the house to do so. This is the problem 99.9 % of the time.
  2. My system will not hang up on you for inactive. If you have changed software you may have a timeout setting (Microsoft likes to default their software setting to fives mins!!!), which will disconnect after so many mins. of activity.
  3. If you have call waiting, and someone try's to call you while you're online, it will disconnect you from the net. In this case add the *70 in front of the phone number.
  4. Go to www.56k.com They have tons of good here.
